Hi everyone
finally the new website is nearly ready to go, it is being launched just prior to the dinghy show
all the favourite bits will be there plus some enhancements. It's being done by the same guy who did the Lark class website and various others, all of which get many hits in proportion to the class size
The URL will be more or less the same and anyway the old address will redirect.
It does unfortunately mean that you will all have to re-register for the forums, we had to do this to purge the system of spammers, as you know currently new members can't post which is a really bad thing. The new site has much better security against spamming.
I'll come back to you when it goes live, in the mean time keep posting as normal.... |

The new URL will be www.fireflysailing.org.uk and from the end of this week the current site should re-direct (so the address in your 'favourites' should work)
please can the regular users take the lead in re-registering themselves on the new forums so we can iron out any snags early on and build up the community again, with new users able to post again and unintended guests (auto-spam) outside the gates
if you have posted or started a thread recently please do so again on the new site
see you all on the 'other side'

I like the new website and the boat register is an exellent idea which if maintained and archived may be an excellent future resource for class history.
The forum is a little different to get used to and might benefit from a few sub sections.
Will this site be closed down and if so will the "old" useful material be moved across? Alot was lost with the last website that might have been useful to keep. True this site had less history on it before it was exspaminated but it is not without its value (if only for a scource of viagra! ) or is it going to be a case of "good riddance!" |
